Haut-Armagnac
Haut-Armagnac overlooks the rest of Gascony to the east. Being located between 150 and 200 m of elevation slightly in altitude, it bears the name of "Armagnac Blanc" by its landscape of hills where the limestone rocks outcrop, while reflecting the light. The warmer and drier Mediterranean climate permeates its coasts with a gentle and light wind. Its acidic soil, composed of limestone and “peyrusquets” clay, gives this wine a lively floral flavor.
In this vast territory being the most extensive of the three, the vines remain secret and confidential. At the end of the 19th century, the vineyard unfortunately did not survive the attacks of phylloxera. Everything had to be pulled out, then cereals had to be used to replace the vines.

Today, the vineyard is replanted and has regained its former beauty. Patrick de Montal will indeed be the first to reintroduce vines in 1991 on the Lectoure plateau. Haut-Armagnac now has more than ten Armagnac houses and produces almost 7% of the Armagnac marketed. The rarity and originality of this Armagnac make it very popular with connoisseurs and wine lovers. And the name “Haut-Armagnac” remains an appellation filled with history.
The polyculture specific to this part of the region and the know-how preserve biodiversity and naturally protect the vineyards from any contagion of vine diseases, making it a suitable territory for biodynamic viticulture.
